TAA40104 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment

The Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is a nationally recognised qualification and comprises 14 units of competence. Successful completion of the 'Certificate IV in Training and Assessment' will equip participants to:

  • understand, analyse and use nationally recognised Training Packages and units of competency plan, prepare and deliver training to individuals and groups design, develop and deliver work-based learning plan, organise, develop and conduct assessments.

The qualification would benefit people who are responsible for training program development and delivery, as well as for designing and conducting assessments.  The course is delivered in 3 clusters comprising:


Cluster 1 - The Workplace Trainer Duration - 4 Days plus Workplace Assessment 

Gain confidence and learn how to communicate effectively to become a valued workplace coach, mentor, trainer and facilitator. Even if you currently perform a training role, this course will help you to effectively plan, organize, structure and facilitate training for groups within your workplace. Work-based projects are an integral part of this course and must be completed in order to receive the Statement of Attainment.


Cluster 2 - The Workplace Assessor Duration - 4 Days plus Workplace Assessment -  

A skilled assessor is a valuable asset in any organization to judge and confirm competent performance against required benchmarks. This comprehensive course will provide you with the necessary knowledge and skills to plan, organize and assess progress in learning and judging whether competent performance within your organization has been demonstrated. Work-based projects are an integral part of this course and must be completed in order to receive the Statement of Attainment.


Cluster 3 – The Vocational Practitioner          Duration - 2 Days plus Workplace Assessment

This course will suit people who are required to design competency-based learning programs in structured environments such as Registered Training Organisations. The skills learned can also be applied to customized, non-assessed industry training programs.  Participants will also learn how to use training packages for their workplace. Work-based projects are an integral part of this course and must be completed in order to receive the Statement of Attainment.


Course prerequisites

For entry into any of these courses, English language and literacy requirements include good written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.  Candidates must also be able to apply technology such as basic computer skills: produce documents, have access to a computer, and research and analyse information on-line.


Workplace Assessments

In addition to attending the face to face workshops participants will need to complete a series of activities in the workplace as part of the assessment process for this qualification.  The process will be facilitated by a workplace assessor (usually the same person who will deliver the training). You will be given 3 months to submit your workplace assessments for each Cluster.


Certificates

Certificates and Statements of Attainment are provided at the end of each cluster to those who are deemed competent. Competency in all three clusters is necessary to obtain the qualification.
